Welcome to Spacemisfits
Spacemisfits is a home for players who like their games a little strange and their worlds well built. The site is organised around four topics: Video Games, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Gaming Technology and Online Communities. If you have ever lost an evening to a map, a mod or an argument about a story’s ending, you are the kind of reader we have in mind.
Games first, and the worlds around them
Under Video Games you will find write-ups of what is worth playing, how systems work and what a title does well or badly. Sci-Fi & Fantasy follows the fiction that feeds games and grows out of them, including books, films, tabletop settings and the lore that fans keep debating. We try to explain why something works rather than only announce that it does.
Hardware, software and the people using them
Gaming Technology covers consoles, PC parts, peripherals, performance settings and the tools players rely on. Where a piece depends on testing, we describe the setup so you can judge how far it applies to yours. Online Communities looks at servers, forums, creators and the etiquette and safety questions that come with playing alongside strangers.
You do not need to own the latest console or a powerful PC to take part. We write for casual players, long-time fans and people who mostly read about games, and we try to keep spoilers clearly signposted so that you can choose how much of a story you want to know in advance.
Our approach
Articles aim to be clear, practical and honest about what is opinion and what is fact. Release details, patch notes and specifications are checked against publishers, developers and manufacturers, and pages are updated when games or hardware change.
